Happy Mother's Day from Macaroni Kid!

Change is in the air for North Sound Macaroni Kid

Hello, North Sound families! I wanted to announce that this week's newsletter will be my last as publisher and editor. I've truly enjoyed bringing you the events and other happenings around the area, but with a young infant and helping my older son prepare for kindergarten, I'm unable to give it the time and energy I feel is necessary to expand it and to continue to bring you quality information.

That said, North Sound Macaroni Kid is not going away! In the next newsletter, you'll meet two amazing moms who are taking over as co-publishers. They are on top of what's happening in the community and are dedicated to continuing to connect you with area businesses, events and more.

I appreciate all the support -- and your readership -- during my time as publisher! Our community is truly made up of wonderful families -- and moms! And with that, I wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day this weekend!

Speaking of Mother's Day, be sure to check out Mom's Nite Out at Northgate Mall! It's happening Thursday, May 10th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Get more details here. Check out the calendar for more fun events happening this coming week. If you have anything you'd like to see on the calendar, fill out this form and North Sound Macaroni Kid's new publishers will get back to you if it's a fit!

Also, remember to like North Sound Macaroni Kid on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for updates throughout the week!

All the best,
Ivanna

Theater Review: The Very Hungry Caterpillar at SCT

The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Other Eric Carle Favorites at Seattle Children's Theatre through 6/14

This past weekend, I took my family to see "The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Other Eric Carle Favorites" at Seattle Children's Theatre. The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been a favorite in our home since my older son, who is almost 5, was an infant (and, truth be told, a favorite for me since I was a child!), so it was a treat to attend the opening-night performance of the show.

With the show being geared toward 2- to 8-year-olds, the audience was informed at the start that it would be ...

Why God Made Moms

Happy Mother's Day!

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just ...

What's App'nin

Reviews of fun, educational phone apps for kids

Do you have a Windows Phone? And do your kids love playing games on it? If your children are anything like my almost five-year-old, you often have to pry your phone out of their hands when they're playing a game they love. This is the last installment of North Sound Macaroni Kid's "What's App'nin," which has featured reviews of fun, educational phone apps for kids.

In past newsletters, I've reviewed games by kids' app developer Wimzoo -- Slurpy the Frog and Smarty Sharky (read that review ...

Food Allergy Awareness Week

Do you read every label, on every package of food, every week, at the grocery store? Have you ever feared for your child’s life as you took them to a friend’s birthday party or school celebration? Do you bake most things from scratch so you can control the ingredients? Chances are no, unless you have a child or family member with a life-threatening food allergy.

It is estimated that 15 million Americans have food allergies, and there has been a dramatic increase in the last few years by ...
